Accusations of racism cost Francesco Açerbi the exclusion from the Italian National Team. The defender of Inter is accused of insulting Juan Jesus during the match that the Black and Whites drew with Napoli.
After appearing at the national team gathering, Açerbi told coach Spaleti and his teammates his version of the event. Although the defender insisted that there was no "derogatory or racist" intention in his words, Spaleti decided to remove him from the list for the friendlies in the United States.
The federation clarified that the decision was taken pending the "reconstruction of the events, to respect the autonomy of sports justice" and above all "to guarantee the necessary calm in the representatives and of the footballer himself".
