Women's World Cup/ Spain makes history, defeats England in the final and is declared world champion

Spain is the new world champion for women.

They triumphed in the grand final against England with a minimum score of 1:0, the tournament was held in Australia.

It was captain Olga Carmona who scored the most important goal of her career in the 29th minute of the match.

This goal would ultimately declare Spain champions. They even had a golden opportunity to double the lead, but Hermoso failed to score from the penalty.

So England have to settle for second place in the world after a fantastic campaign.
