There are no surprises in the second leg of the Champions League. Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and Liverpool are the last 3 teams waiting for a ticket to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
At White Hart Lane, Tottenham won 3-2, but it was the Madrid team that advanced thanks to a comprehensive 5-2 victory in the first leg.
The English took the lead first through Kolo Muani. The Frenchman headed home in the 30th minute, following a cross from Matis Tel. At the start of the second half, Atletico equalised with a goal from Julian Alvarez in the 47th minute, following an assist from Ademola Lukman. In the 51st minute, Xavi Simon put Tottenham ahead again. In the 75th minute, David Hanko equalised for Simeone's team, ensuring that the Spaniards qualified for the quarter-finals where they will face Barcelona in a Spanish derby.
In the 90+1 minute, Kolo Muani scored from the penalty spot, but this was not enough for Tottenham to continue.
At the Allianz Arena, Bayern Munich did not forgive Atalanta in the return leg, qualifying with a 10-2 aggregate score. The Bavarians triumphed with a 4-1 “poker” victory. The German champions took the lead first thanks to Harry Kane’s goal in the 25th minute. The Englishman scored from the penalty spot, which he himself won, after his shot was stopped by Atalanta defender Scalvini with a handball.
The Bavarians scored 3 more goals in the second half. Harry Kane in the 54th minute, Lennart Karl two minutes later and Luis Diaz in the 70th minute sealed Bayern's victory.
Atalanta narrowed the deficit in the 85th minute with Lazar Samardzic, but his goal was only worth statistics for the Bergamo team.
In the quarterfinals, Bayern will face Real Madrid in an early final, all to avoid losing.
At Anfield Road, Liverpool got their revenge on Galatasaray. The English were defeated 0-1 a week earlier in Istanbul, but in England the Reds triumphed 4-0, qualifying for the quarter-finals. The team led by Arne Slott broke the deadlock thanks to Dominik Szoboslai in the 25th minute. The Hungarian scored with a beautiful left-footed shot inside the area after a pass received by Alexis McAllister from a corner kick. In the extra minutes, Liverpool had a golden chance to double the score from the penalty spot, after a foul inside the area by Ismail Jacobs on Szoboslai, but Mohamed Salah missed. The Egyptian's shot was saved by goalkeeper Ugurcan Çakır.
In the 52nd minute, after a quick move and an assist from Salah, it was Hugo Ekitike who sent the ball into the net. A minute later it was Rajan Gravenbersh who found the net, after Salah's first attempt was stopped by the Turkish goalkeeper, but not the Dutchman's shot.
In the 62nd minute, Salah made up for the last mistake of the first half where he missed the penalty and scored the goal that completed the "poker" for the English.
In the quarter-finals, Liverpool will face the reigning European champions, PSG.
