Although the team is fully in contention for a Champions League spot in Ligue 1 (Marseille are in third place with 38 points), Roberto De Zerbi's future on the bench is very much in doubt. For both sides, these hours have been hours of reflection, to the extent that the Italian coach did not show up for the team's training session after the defeat in Belgium.
According to RMC Sport, De Zerbi could be sacked by Marseille, with club leaders ready to formalise the "divorce" before the match against Paris FC this weekend.
The training session was led by assistant coach Andrea Maldera. So, tensions at Olympique de Marseille remain high and the next step could be a separation from De Zerbin, something that was not expected until a few hours ago.
After clashes with French journalists, De Zerbi did not spare harsh words even after the defeat to Bruges. 'I am responsible, but we all have to look into our conscience' were the words of the Italian coach.
