Dinamo City has triumphed in the Albanian Cup final against Egnatia at the "Elbasan Arena", winning the 14th Cup trophy in its history, after 22 years.
The match ended in a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes and extra time, sending the fate of the trophy to penalty kicks, where Dinamo proved to be more accurate.
The final started at a high pace, with both teams showing ambition to dominate. Egnatia, the reigning Super League and Cup champions, took the lead in the 16th minute with a goal by Regi Luskjas, who took advantage of a lack of confidence in the Dinamo defense. The capital's Blues, led by coach Ilir Daja, reacted quickly and equalized in the 29th minute through Dejvi Bregu, who scored with a precise shot from outside the area.
The second half brought even more excitement. Dinamo overturned the score in the 57th minute thanks to a goal by Itodo, who took advantage of a perfect cross from the right wing. However, Egnatia did not give up and equalized again in the 78th minute through Edison Ndreca, who scored from close range after a beautiful collective action. Regular time ended 2-2, and extra time did not bring any goals, leading the match to penalties.
In the penalty shootout, Dinamo City showed great composure and concentration. Dinamo goalkeeper Edvan Bakaj became the hero of the evening by saving two Egnatia penalties, while Dinamo's scorers, including Bregu and Nani, made no mistakes from the penalty spot. Ultimately, Dinamo won 4-2 on penalties.
This victory marks Dinamo City's 14th Albanian Cup trophy, solidifying their position as one of the most successful clubs in Albanian football history. For coach Ilir Daja, this success comes as the culmination of a strong season, where Dinamo is also competing for the Super League title.
After the match, Dinamo coach Ilir Daja said: "This is a well-deserved victory for the boys, who fought until the end. Penalties are a matter of luck, but we showed mental strength. "
With this victory, Dinamo City secures a place in the second round of the Conference League for the 2025-2026 season. Meanwhile, both teams now turn their focus to the "Final 4" of the Super League, where Egnatia and Dinamo are among the contenders for the championship title.
