Oskar Gloukh was the main protagonist of the friendly between Albania and Israel at “Air Albania”, scoring the goal that gave his team the victory. However, the attention was not only focused on the decisive goal, but also on the celebration of the Israeli footballer, who addressed the stands with a gesture to silence the Albanian fans.
His action caused immediate reactions on the field. Defender Elseid Hysaj and midfielder Arbër Hoxha verbally clashed with the Israeli player, creating moments of tension between players from both teams.
To avoid escalating the situation, Israel coach Gal Cohen decided to immediately replace Gloukh.
" I understand Oscar. I had to take him off the field so that the situation did not escalate. I am happy for him because he is one of our main players ," Cohen declared after the match.
Gloukh himself has shown no remorse for his gesture. In statements after the meeting, he said that the reaction came as a result of the atmosphere created at the beginning of the challenge.
" I couldn't let it pass, they booed us during the anthem. I was on fire from the start of the match. The emotions and the goal led me to it and I don't regret it. My teammates defended me the best, I'm happier for that than anything else. I love each and every one of them because they defended me ," said the Ajax player.
He also commented on the reaction of the Albanian players after his celebration.
" The Albanian players? I don't care. I left the field of play afterwards because I didn't want to be hurt. I'm happy that I brought pride to our people ," Gloukh added.
The friendly in Tirana was Israel's only test match in June. The Israeli national team continues to face challenges in organizing international matches due to the security situation and disputes related to the conflict in the Middle East.
Meanwhile, Gloukh's gesture towards Albanian fans has sparked reactions and debate in the sports community, turning his celebration into one of the most commented episodes of the match held at "Air Albania".
