Enea Mihaj starts the "American dream". The Albanian national team defender, transferred to MLS with Atlanta United, took to the training field for the first time with his new club this midweek.
Mihaj has been on break during this period, but has been working individually to be ready for this new adventure. The Albanian footballer spoke to the local media, which were curious to see him in action and to get to know the defender, as much as the latter was curious to get to know the USA, since it was his first time there.
" I am an aggressive defender, I can read the game well. I can give instructions to my teammates. I can help defend in the area, be tough, that's necessary for a defender ," Mihaj initially introduced himself.
" What I have in mind now is to give everything for the team. We had a long conversation with the board and the club before I arrived here, they accelerated the project for me and that's why I'm here."
I understand what coach Roni Deila wants from the team, the way of playing. It was attractive to me, I think it suits me. What he thought about me and how I could help the team, those are things that made me feel comfortable.
The national team? The players who play in my position are in high-level championships like Serie A or La Liga. They are great players. Every time I go to the national team, I see it as an opportunity to learn things. I try to learn from everyone.
But football is a collective sport. We all need to make money in order to do our job better. All players always want to play. I know what to do, I know the expectations. I think we have a lot of work to do, but we are on the right track, "said Mihaj, among other things, in his first presentation to the media in the US.
