The extraordinary interest of Albanian fans in the 2026 World Cup play-off match in Warsaw has prompted the Albanian Football Federation to begin negotiations with its Polish counterparts, with the aim of securing more tickets than the 5% quota provided for by UEFA regulations for friendly teams.
According to the rules, the Albanian national team is entitled to around 3,000 tickets at the "Narodowy" stadium, but media say that the FSHF has received positive signals from the Polish side to increase this number to 4,500 fans for the March 26 match, which will be decisive for qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
The Albanian Football Federation is requesting that the number of tickets be increased to around 6,000, however, there is still no official response from the Polish authorities. The issue of security remains one of the main points of discussion, as the transfer is considered sensitive due to the fact that local fans are known for previous problems.
Albania has secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup play-offs for the first time and the draw has pitted them against Poland in a away match, which will be played in Warsaw on March 26. If successful, the Rossoneri will face the winner of the Ukraine-Sweden tie for a place in the 2026 World Cup finals, which will take place in the USA, Mexico and Canada from June 11 to July 19.
