The 2026 World Cup begins to take shape today, December 5, as the official draw for the historic edition with 48 participating national teams will be held in Washington.
On the same day, the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, was honored for the first time with the "FIFA Peace Prize", a new award that the world football federation gives for contributions to the promotion of sport as an instrument of peace and unity.
The ceremony took place in the presence of FIFA president Gianni Infantino, who presented Trump with a medal and a large trophy, a symbol of the organization's high esteem.
According to FIFA, this award aims to recognize figures who have influenced the strengthening of international cooperation and dialogue through sport, as the USA is one of the three host countries of the 2026 World Cup, along with Canada and Mexico.
