One of the most talked about episodes recently at Real Madrid has been the clash between Aurelien Tchuamen and Federico Valverde, an incident that received a lot of attention in the international sports media. According to reports, the conflict also had consequences for Valverde, who ended up in the hospital.
However, the president of the Madrid club, Florentino Perez, said that the biggest problem was not the quarrel between the players itself, but the fact that the information came out of the club's premises and was published in the media.
At the press conference, Perez described the incident as a common situation in the life of a football team.
" I think it's very wrong and even worse that it was made public. I've been here for 26 years and not a single season has passed without there being a fight between players. As happens with young people, one hits, the other reacts and then everything is closed ," declared Perez.
He added that the leakage of information is what worries him the most.
" For me, the fact that the information got out is more serious than the fight itself, because the next day they are friends again and go out for coffee together. It's not the first time in 26 years that I've seen such a situation and it worries me ," said the Real Madrid president.
Perez stressed that conflicts between footballers are a natural part of competition in a high-level team.
" It's not the first time two players have fought and it's not the first time I've fired coaches. Players fight every season because they're competitive. The problem this time is that the story became public and we know who brought it up ," he said.
In the end, the head of the Madrid club criticized the way the situation has been handled by the media, denying that the incident indicates an internal crisis at Real.
" The press should analyse what happened, but you can't talk about chaos at Real Madrid just because two players fought. They fight every year, even every day, and that's where it ends. If someone inside the club takes him out, that's more serious than the fight itself ," Perez concluded.
