Domenico Rocca, the former Italian referee, has been thrust into the spotlight following recent developments related to a criminal investigation in Italy. His name has been mentioned in the investigation into the head of Italian referees, Gianluca Rocca, who is suspected of colluding in sports fraud.

According to reports, the Milan Prosecutor's Office's investigation may have been triggered by a complaint filed about a year ago by Roka himself with the National Arbitration Commission. In this complaint, he had denounced serious irregularities in Roka's management of the institution.

The document submitted by Roka contained detailed allegations and episodic descriptions, and was sent after he was removed from the list of active referees at the end of last season. He was one of 14 assistants dismissed from duty without an official explanation from the relevant authorities.

After the official announcement of the launch of the investigation, Roka reacted publicly on social media with a short but significant message: " Whoever wounds with the sword, will die by the sword ," a statement that was interpreted as a reaction to Roka's inclusion on the list of suspects.

In his letter, Roka also raised concerns about the way referees are evaluated and appointed, claiming that interference in these processes has undermined the principles of meritocracy and fairness in the system. During the last season, he took part in 14 matches, one in Serie A and 13 in Serie B.

Domeniko Roca was born in Calabria in 1985 and is part of the AIA section in Catanzaro. He began his career as a referee at the age of 15 and progressed through the regional and interregional levels, being part of CAN D and then CAN Pro. Later, he moved into the role of assistant referee, where he was active in Serie A and Serie B matches. He made his debut in the Italian football elite on 12 February 2017, in the Torino-Pescara match. His career ended last season, when he was excluded from the list of referees without official explanation.
