Elseid Hysaj could be very close to signing with Lazio. A renewal for another season of his current contract, but that would help the club find… a buyer.
Hysaj has one more year of contract with Lazio, from which he benefits 2.8 million euros. A very high figure for any club looking to buy the defender, who benefited from the fact that he moved to Lazio with zero parameters four years ago. The contract at that time was built with a gradual salary increase, making Hysaj reach 2.8 million euros in the final year.
The player has no intention of giving up such a salary and is ready to wait for his chance, as happened last season when he was out for the first half of the season. Faced with this situation, Lazio has thought of a more suitable solution for the Bianconeri. The club has proposed an extension of the contract until the summer of 2027, with a lower salary for the following year, in order to reduce his average salary.
In parallel, the club is looking for a team to loan him out with the option to buy based on Hysaj's "average salary." This proposal has been made to the Albanian national team defender, who must choose whether to accept it, or simply wait for the end of his existing contract and be a free player to choose a new club next summer.
