Europa League/ Violence between Lazio and Sociedad fans, 9 Spaniards injured; one in hospital in serious condition (Video)

Nine Real Sociedad fans were injured in central Rome during clashes with Lazio fans ahead of Thursday's Europa League match between the two teams. One of them has been taken to hospital in a serious condition.

Around 70 Spanish supporters were attacked by around 80 Lazio supporters on Via Leonina, near the Colosseum, at around 11pm on Wednesday, a Rome police spokesman said.

Lazio's ultras used sharp objects and knives, while photographs have been released of cold weapons allegedly used in the attack, including a hammer, sticks, keys and a chain. The Lazio hooligans fled when police arrived.

Both teams face off this Thursday at 9:00 PM at the "Olimpico" and after last night's clashes, it seems that the police will increase security measures.
