Luis Manuel Diaz Jimenez, 58, feared he would not make it out alive after enduring a terrifying 12-day nightmare after being kidnapped by ELN guerrillas in Colombia.
But last Thursday, the Liverpool star's father was reunited with his jubilant friends and family after he was finally freed by the rebel group that kidnapped him on October 28.
He revealed that one of the first things he did after his release was to call his son, who at the time was playing for Liverpool in their Europa League fourth round match against Toulouse.
The 58-year-old, who broke down in tears as he relived the emotional reunion, shared what his son told him.
He said " to continue because things do not end here and to have a lot of strength to recover from everything that has happened" .
