Michael Shumaker was reportedly seen in public for the first time in 11 years as he attended his daughter Gina-Maria's wedding.
The seven-time Formula 1 world champion, who suffered life-changing injuries in a skiing accident in 2013, was reportedly in attendance to see his daughter tie the knot with her husband Ian Bethke, according to “ The Mirror ".
Despite ongoing efforts to maintain the ailing F1 icon's privacy, all guests were asked to leave their mobile phones at the entrance to prevent any unauthorized photos of the 55-year-old.
Shumaker has been taking care at all times since his accident in the French Alps more than a decade ago, when he hit his head on a rock despite wearing a helmet while skiing with his son Mick.
He was airlifted to Grenoble Hospital where he underwent two surgeries before being placed in a medically induced coma for several months.
The 55-year-old later returned to his home in Lake Geneva in September 2014, where he has been cared for by his wife Korina and their team of medical professionals.
