Jerry Cardinale's recent statements about Paolo Maldini have caused reactions in the red and black environment. The Milan owner has ruled out the possibility of the former captain returning to the club, using comments that were not well received by the Italian legend.
During a closed-door conversation with selected journalists, the Cardinal said that Maldini was not a figure who functioned well in a group. According to him, the former defender was a "one man show", implying that he had an individualistic and non-collaborative approach to management.
These statements come despite the fact that Maldini was part of Milan's management in the 2021-2022 season when the team won the Serie A championship title.
Asked by journalists during an event organized by "Sky", Maldini reacted with irony to the Cardinal's words.
" Are you calling me a 'one man show'? It's self-explanatory ...", he said briefly, avoiding direct controversy.
At the same time, the former Italian defender preferred not to comment on the rumors linking him to a possible role in the new staff of the Italian Football Federation, next to Giovanni Malago.
