Zlatan Ibrahimovic has revealed an unusual and rather embarrassing incident that happened to him while recovering from a serious injury, admitting that he "couldn't contain himself" while training to get back into shape.
The Malmo-born striker, now 44, has 122 caps for Sweden and 62 goals. He will hang up his boots in 2023 after a second spell with Milan.
In an interview with "Arena Sport", Ibra recounted an unpleasant episode that happened to him during his return from a double knee injury.
“ I’ll tell you something that nobody knows and it’s a little embarrassing ,” he said. “ When I came back from my knee injury, having damaged both of them, I was running on a treadmill .”
" The workout was very intense: six fast intervals, two minutes each, with only three seconds of rest. It was almost the end when I suddenly felt the need to go to the bathroom. I did it in my underwear ."
" But I didn't go. While I was running, what happened happened. I kept running though, because in my head I had to finish the workout first ."
" This is me ," Ibrahimovic added. " I've always said: if I cheat, I cheat myself, not others ."
After leaving Manchester United, Ibrahimovic played for another five years, ending his career at Milan.
Meanwhile, the famous Ibrahimovic name lives on through his son, Maksimilian. The 19-year-old is still at Milan, but was recently loaned out to Ajax - another of his father's former clubs.
