Granit Xhaka is expected to be officially presented as Sunderland's new midfielder for the next two years. The club, promoted to the Premier League this season, has convinced Bayer Leverkusen to make Xhaka, one of the best midfielders in the market, their own for 20 million euros.
The news has been confirmed by transfer market expert, Fabricio Romano, as this decision seems surprising from Xhaka, who had offers from Milan and Inter, but chose to return to the island where he was previously part of Arsenal until two seasons ago.
It seems that Leverkusen have not been able to survive the pressure to leave, losing their fourth star in this transfer window. After Florian Wirtz, Jérôme Frimpong and Jonathan Tah, Leverkusen are now also seeing the departure of Xhaka.

The departure of Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid and the benching of Erik ten Hag have caused many changes to occur at Leverkusen, which will have a different face from the new season.
" Granit Xhaka to Sunderland, here we are! The agreement has been reached between all parties involved. I learn that the fee will be 20 million euros, the contract until 2027. It is said that Xhaka has been given the "green light" to fly to Sunderland to undergo medical examinations ," writes Fabricio Romano on communication channels.
We recall that Lorik Cana also played for Sunderland for one season (2009-2010) and the "Black Cats" will have another Albanian again. After Basel, Mechelen, Arsenal and Leverkusen, Sunderland will be the fifth club in Xhaka's career, even though Erik ten Hag opposed his departure from the team.
