A 17-year-old girl from Albania has just done what few dare to dream of: she has conquered the European Youth Weightlifting Championships, breaking five records and becoming the three-time absolute champion. Her name is Enkileda Carja, the athlete who turned Madrid into a red-black triumph.
Carja started the competition in the clean and jerk style with a new record in the first attempt – 91 kg – and immediately broke it in the second attempt with 93 kg. She also attempted 95 kg, which was not achieved, but still was more than enough for the first gold medal.
In the clean and jerk, the 17-year-old once again showed extraordinary strength: she lifted 109 kg, setting a new European record and taking it even higher with 111 kg. The third attempt at 114 kg was not successful, but it didn't matter – Carja was already on another level.
The final result: 204 kg in total, three gold medals, five European records broken and a clear message - Albanian weightlifting has a new champion who can go much higher.
