Lara Colturi finished the first run of the giant slalom in fourth place in her race at the Winter Olympics. She stopped the clock in 1 minute, 3.97 seconds, trailing only three rivals.
The fastest time in this stage was recorded by Italian Federica Brignone, who leads the provisional standings. Colturi, 19, competes among athletes with the longest experience in this discipline.
On the first descent, she also left behind American Mikaela Shiffrin, who ranked seventh.
The result of the second descent will determine the final standings and medal distribution. The current position keeps Colturi in contention for a podium spot.
