The national team coach, Silvinjo, has given an exclusive account to "Klan News", with journalist Viola Spiro.
The red and black coach recalled his beginnings in football as a child, but also signing his first contract as a professional.
According to Silvinho, football is not just a sport, but a door to opportunities in life.
“ I have to go back a long time. At the age of 7-8, the only thing playing in the streets of São Paulo was football. I went to school in the morning and played football in the afternoon. I couldn't wait for the weekends, to go play with my father. I quickly became part of a youth team and couldn't wait to sign my first professional contract. It came around the age of 18-19.
"At the age of 20 I was a professional footballer. At that moment I realised that football was not just a sport, but a door that opened to opportunities in life. Sport gives you discipline. Football put me in line and taught me to work seriously ," he said.
Silvinjo, in his story, also remembered the transition to Arsenal and Barcelona, where he became known in Europe. He considered himself lucky, since as a player he was managed by Rijkaard, Guardiola and Wenger, while in his first steps as a coach, he was an assistant to well-known names such as Mancini and Tite. Silvinjo promised that he would invite them to Tirana, but added that it would be difficult to realize, due to the commitments they have.
" Fortunately I was always disciplined. They were a tough generation, but also loving. I was lucky because Arsenal was the first door to Europe. A big responsibility.
At Barcelona it was a wonderful period. It came when I was 30 years old, with a lot of experience. It was a dressing room filled with hunger for victory, there was great respect between the players. Everyone wanted to play, but there was also respect. Everyone gave their maximum when they entered the field. Over the years, some contacts are cold, because of the movements. What leads to success is hunger and respect for each other.
"I was lucky. As a player I worked with Guardiola, Rijkaard and Wenger. As a coach I worked with Machin and Tite. I am very grateful, because they all taught me. I promise that I will invite them to Tirana, but it is difficult to find time, because of the commitments they have ," said Silvinjo.
