The situation of Olympique de Marseille continues to deteriorate, as the club faces serious problems in respecting the agreement reached with UEFA in 2022. The financial imbalance and accumulated losses have placed the club under the pressure of possible sanctions.

In 2022, the French team was fined 2 million euros by UEFA, of which 1.7 million remained suspended. This agreement was intended to give the club the opportunity to avoid more severe penalties, provided it improved its financial balance and respected the rules of "Financial Fair Play".

According to reports from L'Equipe, this target has not been achieved. The agreement envisaged a deficit limit of 60 million euros, but the club is far from this standard.

In the last three seasons, Marseille has accumulated losses of around 157 million euros. Fiscal data shows a worrying trend, increasing the risk of intervention by UEFA.

UEFA has warned of the possibility of severe sanctions. Possible measures include:

1-Exclusion from European competitions

2-Economic sanctions

3-Blocking the transfer market for several sessions

One factor that could mitigate the punishment is the decline in television rights revenue, however this remains unclear.

Even if Marseille fails to qualify for the European Cups this season, any potential sanction would remain suspended and would be applied at the time of the next qualification. This would constitute a serious blow to the club's sporting and financial future.

So far, according to French media, Olympique de Marseille has refused to comment on the situation.
