Eight PAOK Thessaloniki fans died yesterday in a tragic accident in Romania, while on their way to watch the Europa League match against Lyon, which will be played the following day.
In the club's official store in Thessaloniki, eight jerseys were photographed with the names of the victims and the number 12 on the back.
Fans for every club are considered the '12th player', so PAOK has chosen this way of homage.
We recall that ten PAOK fans were involved in a car accident in Romania, with their van colliding head-on with a truck. Six fans died on the spot, while another died on the way to the hospital. One of them was Albanian Vasil Pilo. Meanwhile, the other three injured are out of danger, including the other Albanian, Genci Sadiku.
Meanwhile, the other victim was a PAOK fan in Larissa, who after learning the news lost his life from grief after having heart problems.
But what happened? According to reports from the Romanian police, the cause of the accident is related to a wrong overtaking by the driver of the minibus, in which the Greek fans were traveling. It is further stated that the collision was so strong that it caused the instant death of at least eight fans, including the driver.
