
Sporting Lisbon are the first team to secure a place in the quarter-finals of this season's Champions League after a dramatic upset of Bodo/Glimt. The Portuguese side triumphed with a comprehensive 5-0 victory after 120 minutes of play, overturning a 3-0 first-leg defeat in Norway.
The match in Lisbon started at a high pace with the home team immediately looking for a goal. The advantage came in the 34th minute, when Gonçalo Injacio headed home a corner kick from Trinkao. The first half ended with the score 1-0.
In the second half, Sporting increased the pressure and managed to double the score in the 61st minute. After a well-constructed move by Katamo and an assist from Luis Suarez, it was Pedro Gonçalves who finished for 2-0. Just 16 minutes later, Luis Suarez converted from the penalty spot, bringing the score to 3-0 and tying the two-leg aggregate.
With this result, the match went into extra time, where the home team continued to dominate. In the 92nd minute, Maksimiliano Araujo scored the fourth goal with a precise shot inside the area, after another assist from Trinkao. In the following minutes, newly introduced Rafael Nel sealed the victory with a goal for 5-0.
Sporting Lisbon thus advances to the quarter-finals, while for Bodo/Glimt, their journey in this edition of the Champions League ends here, after a remarkable performance up to this stage.
