Elbasan, Vllaznia and Dinamo will be part of the first qualifying round of the Conference League, but recent changes made by UEFA have brought new developments regarding the potential opponents of the Albanian teams.
European football's governing body has banned several clubs from continental competitions, prompting a reshuffle of the pots for the first qualifying round draw.
One of the cases concerns Andorran football. UE Santa Coloma failed to secure the necessary UEFA license and was replaced by FC Santa Coloma. The replacement club has a higher European coefficient, which has placed it in the pot of favorite teams for the first qualifying round.
As a result of this change, Torpedo Kutaisi of Georgia has been moved to the pot of unfavored teams, becoming a potential opponent for Vllaznia, which is in the pot of favored teams.
Meanwhile, another important decision has been made against Azerbaijani club Turan Tovuz. UEFA has decided to exclude the team from European competitions due to its involvement in match-fixing, which dates back to 2019. The sanction is based on a previous decision by the domestic federation and was implemented by UEFA in the club's first season back in European competition.
Following this decision, Turan Tovuz's place in the second qualifying round will be taken by Neftçi. Meanwhile, for the first round, Zira's team will be positioned in the second pot, thus changing the composition of potential opponents in the Conference League draw.
