Roger Federer is planning a comeback tour with Rafael Nadal. The 20-time Grand Slam champion wants to launch a "Federal Tour" with his longtime rival and friend.
Three years after retiring from the sport, Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer is making big announcements at the Laver Cup. The 20-time Grand Slam winner is seriously considering launching a Legends Tour with his arch-rival Rafael Nadal.
It would be an epic comeback for the pair, who have given each other absolutely nothing on the court over the past two decades. Off the court, however, Federer and Nadal continue to get along very well. At this year's Laver Cup, Federer once again underlined this friendship with the words: "I love Rafa."
Federer is enthusiastic about the idea of starting a Legends Tournament with Nadal and other former tennis stars of the same generation: "I've been playing a lot lately and trying to stay in shape. And I know Rafa is open to playing some tennis. Maybe we could organize a tournament. 'Seniors' Tournament' sounds terrible. We could call it 'Federal Tournament'. That would be interesting."

Tony Godsick, Federer's manager, has apparently been pressuring the Swiss to start the tournament. He told him that "people want to see you play again. And I think Rafa and a lot of other players are interested as well."
Godsick is thinking about some of the big names in tennis who have just retired and whose presence could easily fill several stadiums again.
After retiring from the sport, Roger Federer appeared on the tennis court only occasionally. Federer suffered from recurring knee problems towards the end of his playing career. As a result, Federer has recently been seen more often on the golf course and less on the tennis court.
Now, his knee seems to be holding up better. Federer returned to the court for a few hours at the Laver Cup in San Francisco. And it's easy to see: the master hasn't forgotten how to play tennis.
