The era of Rolando Maran at the helm of the Albanian national team has officially begun. The Italian coach, introduced on Tuesday at a press conference, has immediately taken charge of the red and black team and has begun work on building his squad.
The 62-year-old is expected to initially focus on selecting players for the two friendly matches in June, where Albania will face Israel on June 3 and Luxembourg on June 6.
According to sources close to the red and black environment, Maran is closely following several footballers with potential, who have not yet created significant spaces with other national teams and could represent valuable alternatives for the future of Albania.
One of the names that has caught the attention of the coaching staff is Ron Raçi. The Hajduk Split defender is considered an interesting profile for the defensive department, while the fact that he has not yet made his debut with the Kosovo national team keeps the possibility of playing for the red and black jersey open.
Sources close to the Albanian Football Federation indicate that work is being done to convince the footballer to choose Albania, while Maran sees Raç as an alternative with special characteristics for defense.
The defender plays in the center and prefers his left foot, a profile that is currently considered missing in the Albanian national team. During his career, he has also been part of teams such as Trepça, Prishtina and Besa.
Meanwhile, Etnik Brruti has also become part of the Albanian national team in recent months. The midfielder decided to leave Kosovo U-21 to join Albania, while coach Silvinjo brought him into the first team.
