Inter's 3-2 win in the "Derby of Italy" against Juventus has sparked controversy over the refereeing of the match. At the center of the debate is referee Federico La Pena, who risks a suspension of up to a month after his decision to give a second yellow card (and consequently a red card) to Juventus defender Piere Kalulu.

The key episode of the match was related to an alleged tackle on Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni. According to the head of referees in Serie A, Gianluca Rochi, the black and blue player had simulated, which has added doubts about the accuracy of the referee's decision. In this climate of tension, journalist and writer Roberto Saviano, known for his studies on the influence of the mafia in Italy, has also reacted. Through public communication channels, Saviano has raised strong accusations against Inter president Giuseppe Marotta.
" As long as this man has a role in Italian football, everyone will feel like the league is rigged ," Saviano said. He added that Juventus chairman Giorgio Chiellini's reaction "seemed like the feeling of someone who knows how things work with Marotta," referring to the fact that Marotta was Juventus' general manager from 2010 to 2018.
Accusations of lack of transparency
Saviano stressed that his criticism is not aimed at the players or fans, but at the system. " This is not an attack on the athletes and fans, who are the first victims of a system that is not completely transparent. As long as certain dynamics remain intact, the championships will never be truly normal ," he declared.
He also cited documented cases of the 'Ndrangheta criminal organization's infiltration of Italian football. According to Saviano, a court order states that " Inter was in a situation of subservience to members of the 'Curva Nord', effectively ending up helping them, albeit reluctantly ."
These statements constitute serious accusations, and so far there has been no official reaction from Inter or Giuseppe Marota regarding them.
