Reports from Serbia suggest that Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic got into a physical altercation with a fan in a Munich bar in the middle of Euro 2024 group matches.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper did not play a single minute in the tournament in Germany, he was kept on the bench for the draws with Slovenia and Denmark as well as the defeat against England. Serbia's two points were not enough to progress to the knockout stages, ending their campaign early.
Serbian newspaper Telegraf claims that Milinkovic-Savic went to a bar in Munich popular with Serbs on a day off before the match against Denmark when he got into a fight with a fan.
A fan allegedly spotted the 27-year-old Torino goalkeeper drinking in the bar and confronted him, asking why he wasn't with his team-mates preparing for the final Euro 2024 group game.
Tempers flared as Milinkovic-Savic apparently swore at the fan before walking up to him and kicking him. Bar security first, and then the owner, intervene to separate the Serbian national goalkeeper and the fan.
The newspaper contacted the owner of the bar, who gave a slightly different story, saying: "Vanja came to our bar, but the security at the entrance didn't recognize him and they didn't want to let him in because he was wearing the national team shirt and shorts , which angered the fan and there was a fight between them.
"I quickly intervened, grabbed his hand and told him to come in with me, but he refused. Everything happened in the garden of the bar. I did not hear what they said to the porter and what they said to each other. I'm glad we finally worked it out."
