Albanian sport in mourning! Eqerem Shaba, the former cyclist of Dinamo and the Albanian National Team, has passed away today.
Shaba was active in the sport of cycling in the years 1956-1967, as he participated in the prestigious international race Prague-Berlin-Warsaw, as one of the strongest athletes of the Albanian national team, and then in 1968 to 1974 as coach of the national team and the Dinamo team. Shaba also led the Albanian Cycling Federation for 16 years as General Secretary until 1990.
He was also the coach of Partizan in 1995-1996, helping to promote the sport of cycling in the national and international arena. With the death of Eqerem Shaba, Albania lost one of the sports legends.
