At least 17 people were injured after a vehicle drove into fans celebrating Mexico's World Cup victory in the resort town of Cabo San Lucas.
Hundreds of fans had gathered in the city's streets after Mexico's 3-0 victory over the Czech Republic, a result that secured the team first place in the group and qualification for the round of 32 of the tournament.
At around 9:45 p.m. local time, fans, wearing the national team's green jerseys, celebrated in the streets, while traffic was blocked due to the crowd.

Footage posted online shows a group of fans surrounding a black vehicle, smashing its windows and hood. Moments later, the driver of the vehicle suddenly accelerated, plowing into the crowd and injuring several people, before attempting to flee the scene.
According to authorities, the people in the vehicle were arrested immediately after the incident. All the injured were transported to local hospitals, where they are in non-life-threatening condition.
The Secretary General of the Los Cabos City Council, Alberto Rendería Santana, stated that investigations to fully elucidate the incident are still ongoing.
Cabo San Lucas, located on the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula, is one of Mexico's most popular tourist destinations, known for its beaches, diving activities, and marine life.

The Mexican Football Federation also reacted after the incident. In its statement, the federation expressed regret for the incident, solidarity with the injured and their families, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
"The Mexican Football Federation expresses its deep regret for the incident that occurred during the fans' celebrations in Los Cabos after the national team's victory. We express our support to the injured and their families and hope that the competent authorities fully clarify the circumstances of the event and determine those responsible," the statement said.
