Kristjan Asllani will be absent from Besiktas' next matches, following a decision made by the Turkish Football Federation regarding the red card received in his debut match.
Initially, it was expected that the Albanian midfielder's suspension would be lifted in a Cup match, but the Disciplinary Committee decided otherwise, applying a harsher measure than anticipated.
According to the official decision, Asllani will not be available for the team's weekend league match against Alanyaspor either. This means that his return to the field is postponed until next week, forcing Besiktas' technical staff to review their plans for the midfield department.
The decision is considered a surprise, as in similar cases penalties have been served earlier in Cup matches, but in this case the disciplinary authorities have chosen a stricter interpretation of the regulation.
" Beşiktaş footballer Kristjan Asllani is sentenced to two matches of suspension in official competitions in accordance with Article 43 of the Disciplinary Regulations for a serious foul against a player of the opposing team in the Beşiktaş - Koniaspor match played on January 31 ," the decision taken by the Disciplinary Committee read.
