The Football Federation of Ukraine has received shocking news before the decisive match with Albania at the "Air Albania" stadium. They have lost a sensational trial at the CAS of Lausanne, which will undoubtedly damage her international image.
The trial concerns the former captain and leader of this representative, Anatoli Timoshčuk. The latter has been declared a traitor since he decided to continue living in Russia and not speak against the Russians for the invasion of Ukraine. The federation decided to take away every license and title it had given him, every honor, as well as delete him from the register of its representative, where Timoshchuk has set several records and was captain.
But the former player has taken the case to the KAS of Lausanne and won there, as the court of sports arbitration estimated that Timoshchuk had not performed any action since the start of Russia's attacks that could bring such a drastic sanction.
The Ukrainian Federation, which is now led by Andriy Shevchenko, who has played for many years alongside Tymoshchuk, made an official reaction after this decision.
" Unfortunately, the Europeans treated this issue in the most formal way and confirmed their partial misunderstanding of the reality in which we live. The position of the football community in Ukraine is clear and has never changed. People like Tymoshchuk have no place in Ukrainian football ."
