This Sunday the Italian capital will once again experience the emotions of the derby between Lazio and Roma. In addition to the local fans, "additional forces" from all over Europe are expected, who could worsen the tension at the "Olimpic" stadium. In the North sector, of Lazio fans, ultras from Germany, Poland, Bulgaria and England are expected.
In the southern sector, the Roma fans, will be fans with ties to Greece, Spain and Croatia. These historical ties are often based on the ideological proximity between the two fan bases of the capital. The prefect of Rome has requested maximum police mobilization and control of all sensitive areas around the stadium, including pubs and traditional meeting places of the ultras.
Authorities are hoping to avoid mass clashes, like last season, when 400 ultras clashed at the Ponte Duca d'Aosta and helmets and sticks were confiscated. The alarm is on and a derby with strict security measures is expected, where any incident could turn into serious clashes.
