Former Albania coach from 2011 to 2017, Gianni De Biasi, spoke about the match between Serbia and the national team, which will be played on October 11 in Leskovac. The 69-year-old gave a short statement to "RTSH", also showing the "formula" of how the Serbs are defeated on their own field:
" We are on the verge of a very important match for Albania. The Reds and Blacks must definitely leave Leskovac with a positive result to keep their hopes alive for the "2026 World Cup".
The war here is against Serbia and when I say war I mean sports battles. It is possible for the National Team to surpass Serbia. I made my debut in 2011. Time has flown by. When you look back, you realize that time passes very quickly.
Of course, against Serbia it is an exciting match from the point of view of the results, because it is important for Albania. I hope everything goes well and there are no problems.
My group in 2014 was very strong, a team that fought for each other. There was great determination, to fight for every ball. Whereas now I don't know what the relationships are like within the group.
I think the current group is technically stronger, because there are many players who play in big teams. I expect a passionate fan base for the home team, where they will try to distract Albania with their chants. The result will affect the journey and future of both teams. Albania has all the qualities to defeat Serbia.
Stojkovic's group has not played very well recently. If we keep a high tempo and attack constantly, we will put them under pressure. Coach Silvinjo will prepare the team well, also psychologically, without being influenced by external factors.
"Serbia is physically strong, the players play in good teams and strong championships. A Serbia that causes trouble if it doesn't fight for every ball. I want to return to Albania, but not as a coach, " said De Biazi.
