Mimoza Gjika was provided with a death certificate on October 30, 2023, when in fact she is alive and requested a personal pension certificate.
Gjika points out that the address is also wrong, as it does not match her real address. Another problem is its status. The lady has been a widow since 2009, but in Albania she is married.
Mimoza Gjika : To make the documents for pension, since I am 61 years and 6 months old and it was up to me to receive a pension. Since I am listed as married on my personal certificate, I was asked by the social security offices to submit a marriage certificate. Instead of a marriage certificate, they issue me a death certificate. I look at it, it says that I died on the day of the wedding, 25.04.1998.
Journalist : The place of death is in Lygourio, Greece?
Mimoza Gjika : Yes, in the place where I got married.
Journalist : What is your status today?
Mimoza Gjika : I am a widow now.
Journalist : How many years?
Mimoza Gjika : I have since 2009, my husband changed his life. Even though I am a widow, I sent to get it, to make the separation, from being married to be recognized as a widow, and they told me: "Since he is a foreign citizen, we do not have the right to do the deregistration here."
Journalist : Now you will make the pension papers as you have the situation?
Mimoza Gjika : I know, I will never get my pension.
The employee of the Berat civil registry, Ersila Kazazi, said that the death certificate is a slip. As for the change of status, Kazazi explains that the lady must bring the documents with an apostille stamp, because she was married to a foreign citizen.
Ersila Kazazi : The lady has made a request to e-Albania for a marriage certificate. Since she is married to a foreign citizen, she automatically receives a personal certificate with the note below that she is married to a foreign citizen. By mistake, it was a slip and we have apologized 1000 thousand times to the lady, instead of printing the birth certificate section, we mistakenly printed the death certificate. And for this reason, we asked and continue to ask the lady for forgiveness because, as I said, it was a slip of the moment.
Journalist : Meanwhile, the lady has had her husband's death since 2009, and in the meantime she is still configuring in Albania that she is married. What actions should he follow to pass to the status of a widow, so that he can then also follow the procedures to receive a pension here?
Ersila Kazazi : Just bring your husband's death certificate that was kept in Greece and we will automatically change your status from married to widowed./ Tv Klan
