The United States of America seems to have entered the game as far as the Gërdec tragedy is concerned.
While Fatmir Mediu is writhing in court to escape from prison, SPAK has another file for money laundering and cartridge trafficking in Gërdec. Undoubtedly, the main risk in this case is Shkëlzen Berisha, who was also questioned. He has often been accused of directing everything that happened in the dismantling factory.
In an informal meeting with journalists, SPAK head Altin Dumani was asked about this file and confirmed that he is cooperating with the USA to shed light. According to him, orders have been sent and he is also cooperating with the Washington authorities, since the company that dealt with the dismantling and cartridges was American. Dumani said that all the necessary actions are being taken to clarify this file once and for all.
Regarding the Partizani complex, the head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, said that it is being actively investigated and numerous investigative actions are being carried out. Berisha's son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, was implicated in this affair. So it seems that there will be developments for the Berisha family
SPAK sent an order letter to the USA and asked to interrogate Efraim Diveroli, who was convicted of ammunition trafficking in Gërdec. But regarding the developments in Gërdec, David Packouz, Efraim Diverol's partner, spoke earlier.
Speaking on the "Koncrete" podcast, Packouz confessed that Diveroli negotiated with Shkëlzen Berisha to lower the price of cartridges. He has shown how the Chinese inscriptions were then removed from the cartridges.
"Ephraim made the decision that he didn't want to risk losing a $300 million contract, so instead of telling the US Army and accepting the risk that they might pull the contract, he decided to get someone to repackage the ammunition. They would remove it from the boxes with Chinese markings and put them in plastic bags and then in cardboard boxes. We actually wanted to do this before we found out the ammo was Chinese. Because at that time the price of fuel had increased, and air transport was very expensive. So we thought that the ammunition was packed in heavy wooden boxes, and if we removed them, we would reduce the weight a lot, and send more ammunition, in return we would earn more. To do this, my friend Alex went to Albania and found a manufacturer of cardboard boxes and hired him. That's when we realized it was Chinese ammunition, after we decided to repackage it. Then we said "we have to repackage it anyway, but we have to make sure to remove the Chinese markings as well". We were very stupid and sent this by e-mail, leaving great possibilities of tracking", Packouz said.
He further indicated that 100,000 dollars or 200,000 dollars were paid for the repackaging. He then brings up the name of Kosta Trebicka, who was the person who packed the cartridges. It also shows shopping with Shkëlzen Berisha.
" Efraim goes to Albania and meets with Pinari, he was from the Albanian export organization. A state-owned company that was tasked with selling any type of ammunition the government wanted to sell. He met with Pinari, this meeting is also in the book, and Mr. Berisha (Shkëlzeni) sued us for this. He met with Pinari and the prime minister's son, and another person who was an Albanian mobster. I don't remember his name.
Ephraim realized who he was dealing with, he usually talks a lot, Alex was there and he told me that as soon as he walked in there, he immediately lowered his voice. They told him, look, we won't give you a better price, this is the best price in Europe. However, we know that you also do repackaging, and you hired this guy who is not part of our organization, and you are paying him a lot of money ", he said.
