Will Ilir Meta be released from prison? The Supreme Court will decide tomorrow

The High Court will tomorrow review the appeal of Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi, who have opposed the security measure granted to them, regarding SPAK's investigations into CEZ/DIA and LSI's lobbying in the US.

Meta's appeal hearing will begin at 10:00 am and the case will be reviewed by the panel of judges Ilir Panda, Albana Boksi and Medi Bici.

Ilir Meta was arrested on October 21, 2024 and is in custody and, together with his ex-wife Monika Kryemadhi, is being investigated by SPAK on three charges: money laundering, corruption and failure to declare assets in connection with the CEZ DIA file and LSI lobbying in the US. A security measure, 'compulsory appearance', was imposed on Kryemadhi.

For Meta, the Special Court of First Instance and the Court of Appeal have upheld the measure of "prison arrest", meaning that Meta has been held in isolation in the "Jordan Misja" detention center in the capital, or as it is otherwise known, 313, for nearly 4 months.

Even Kryemadhi, who was given a security measure of "compulsion to appear", has filed a recourse, labeling the measure illegal. Meanwhile, SPAK has also launched a property investigation into their family.

We recall that, in his request, PL leader Ilir Meta insists that not only is there no evidence for the charges against him, he is not dangerous and does not harm the investigation process, but that he is also being hindered as the leader of the Freedom Party for the elections. It is not known whether the Supreme Court will release the former president from prison and change the security measure.
