Will the pact with MEK be broken? Julian Hodaj: Individuals involved in crimes

The Deputy Minister of the Interior, Julian Hodaj, has spoken about the events that took place a day earlier, where by order of the special court, the police went to check the refuge of the Iranian opposition in Albania, which is located in Manza.

Hodaj said that even before there were communications regarding some violations of the agreement with the MEK, but this had nothing to do with yesterday's operation. According to him, yesterday's operation was carried out due to the suspicions that SPAK had about the involvement of some individuals of the MEK organization in acts that constitute criminal cases.

Asked if these events will affect Albania's relationship with the MEK, Hodaj replied that the responsibilities are personal and only those individuals who have committed criminal offenses will be punished and possibly deported.

"Albania is committed to fulfilling all the agreed points of the agreement, because we are talking about a community that at a certain moment needed help. Even the decision to assist, host and shelter you in the Republic of Albania was made taking into account all the responsibilities and obligations that arise. Albania has no intention at the moment to withdraw from this agreement, only that certain elements within this community may not fulfill their obligations or commit criminal acts. "Criminal cases are individual cases and individuals who have committed criminal offenses will face all the consequences, from punishments to deportations, but this has nothing to do with the community," said the Deputy Interior Minister to Euronews .
