Lawyer Spartak Ngjela spoke in favor of extending the mandate of SPAK prosecutors and said that internationals also share this opinion.
According to him, constitutional changes require a qualified majority and it is difficult, but not impossible, for the SP and DP to prevent SPAK, which is under American leadership.
However, the former Democratic MP expressed today for 'Studio Live' on Report TV that the possibility of the SP and DP joining votes in this regard should be taken into consideration if they were to oppose the Special Prosecution Office.
"The majority has the power to make constitutional changes and SPAK's request for an extension of the mandate, it is constitutional. It has the power to do so, it will ask, it must enter into negotiations. SPAK is not to blame, there is a delay. But it is international politics, they will extend their mandate, I don't see any difficulties, why not. The SP and the DP have united against anti-corruption and justice reform, anything can happen, but I think they don't have enough strength ," the lawyer said.
Regarding the question of whether justice could be influenced in Berisha's case, he made it clear that there was no possibility.
" Why are you putting me at this level, SPAK is run by America. There is no discussion. American politics has taken over, Blinken, he said, 'we will save Albania from corruption'. It is over. But if they are acquitted, that is another matter. But they will go to trial, Berisha too, it will be decided there, if they are acquitted, that is another matter ," Ngjela continued for Report TV.
He further explained the reason: "Berisha is a suspicious person in the US. Why don't you ask the American Embassy, there is a representative there, he is the deputy, ask him, he will tell you. Berisha has criminal proceedings, he is a suspect in America."
Ngjela also recalled the anti-Albanian approaches of the DP leader over the years, underlining that without being part of them, he could not have advanced so far in politics.
"He has access, with Belgrade and Athens, it is not discussed. Every anti-Albanian goes first to Belgrade and then to Athens. They are centuries-old opponents, that is known. When we ask about Greece, he will take Northern Epirus, this is nonsense. We are under American patronage, sir, when Greece goes to America, then yes ," explains the lawyer.
Regarding the electoral and electoral situation, Ngjela says he is convinced that the SP, based on the polls that put it 13 points ahead, will win, since the DP can never come to power as long as it has Berisha at the helm and is 'non grata'.
"You have to start with how the polls come out. There is a big difference. The polls are 12-13 points ahead. There is a lot of money for the SP, I can't lie even though I am not with the SP. The leader of the DP is non grata in the USA, why are you discussing it, the SP is winning. America has taken over Albania, sir, it gave Kosovo as a state to the USA. Don't mess with a man who has declared America non grata. He is also harming the DP, the DP will not come to power as long as Berisha is there ," the former democrat MP repeated.
Ngjela also gave his opinion on the arrest of a person in Lushnja, who was reported to have offered 500 euros for a family's votes in favor of the DP.
" Let's see what kind of arrest it is. If it is professional with tracking, then we say that SPAK is tracking vote buying. But I believe that in the coming campaign SPAK will take over the full investigation of the phenomenon. But if SPAK has caught it now, we will see. But SPAK has stated that it will deal with this, very well, because SPAK knows who runs it, it is run by American politics ," he emphasized.
Regarding the political situation in Kosovo, Ngjela said that Albin Kurti has neither the support of political parties in Kosovo to form a government nor of external factors. He added that Kosovo would go to elections again.
"It doesn't matter what Trump's son says, or the connection with the independence of a state. It's simple, Albin Kurti doesn't have the votes in Kosovo for the government, Albanian parties don't give him votes, they don't cooperate with Kurti. It's that simple, it's pointless to discuss. I say they will go to new elections, but let's see, because we also have Vjosa Osmani there ," the lawyer analyzes for 'Studio Live'.
