Teenagers addicted to ChatGPT, psychologists raise the alarm: Serious

The use of artificial intelligence by young people, mainly teenagers, is increasingly becoming a concern.

The latest WHO report warns that the lack of professional care can have serious consequences. But what do mental health professionals say about this constantly growing phenomenon?

"Teenagers are more likely to discuss with chat gbt than with a friend or to go to a psychologist. Recently, they even turn to chat gbt if they want to get psychological advice about anxiety or stress."

"They ask for advice, how they should behave, how they should react. They are creating addictions, all age groups, to have the right answers, to have everything ready," said psychologist Ermela Shllaku.

Often prejudiced by society, these teenagers turn to artificial intelligence to seek emotional support.

"It's very important not to be prejudiced. Teenagers are more likely to turn to artificial intelligence because they find emotional support without judgment."

"They want to be heard. The moment they speak to the artificial intelligence, it shows how they have reacted and how they should react," the psychologist added.

But what are the risks to their health from being so exposed?

"Because it varies depending on the situation or conditions, therefore a dangerous dependence is created, which if family or schools are not found can lead to depression, because we will tend to have everything isolated without any other link that makes it function," declared Shllaku.

According to the World Health Organization, one in 7 children and young people by the age of 20 suffer from a mental health disorder.

For this reason, experts are calling for immediate intervention to create stronger support systems for them.
