On the eve of the end-of-year holidays, the National Cyber Security Authority (AKSK) has warned citizens to beware of fraudulent messages circulating on WhatsApp that aim to steal account data.
According to AKSK, citizens are receiving messages that appear to come from WhatsApp or official institutions and ask for verification codes or direct them to fake pages.
If these links are clicked or codes are entered, scammers can immediately take control of all the accounts on your phone.
Authorities advise citizens:
Don't click suspicious links.
Never give out verification codes even if the message looks official.
Check the devices linked to WhatsApp (under “Linked Devices”)
Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for more security
AKSK calls on citizens to be careful and report any suspicious messages, as personal vigilance is the best way to avoid online scams.
