The parliamentary committee meetings have begun with a minute of silence, in honor of Judge Astrit Kalaja, who lost his life yesterday after an attack in the courtroom where he was on duty at the Court of Appeals in Tirana.
Ulsi Manja considered the murder a barbaric act and demanded exemplary punishment for the perpetrators.
"The hand of crime rose above the black platoons by taking the life of a judge on duty, a serious criminal act and a barbaric act and deserves exemplary punishment for the perpetrators. The murder of a judge on duty in an environment where it is assumed that it is the safest decision to exercise his duty, an alarm bell for the safety of justice workers. Many of us have known the judge, so I would invite you to observe a minute of silence in his honor," said Manja.
