The Special Prosecutor's Office has sent for trial Kristo Agalliu and Agron Duraj, both accused of "active corruption in elections".

At the end of the preliminary investigations of criminal proceedings no. 96 of 2023, the Special Prosecutor's Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime submitted to the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime (on 27.09.2023) the request for trial in charge of the defendants:

1. Kristo Agalliu, accused of the criminal offense of "Active corruption in elections", provided by Article 328 of the Criminal Code.
2. Agron Duraj, accused of the criminal offense of "Passive corruption in elections", provided by article 328/bi of the Criminal Code.

The investigation of this criminal proceeding has resulted that, on May 9, 2023, the defendant Kristo Agalliu offered monetary sums to the defendant Agron Duraj to influence the will of the latter, in order to vote for a certain candidate in the Elections for Local Government Bodies, which took place on May 14, 2023.

52-year-old Kristo Agalliu, a resident of Tirana, was put in handcuffs on May 10, and Agron Duraj, 61, was put under investigation after the publication of a video where they communicated about buying and selling votes.
