The Court of First Instance of Durrës has given the security measure 'imprisonment' for 3 of the 5 employees of the municipality of Rrogozhinë who were arrested, who are accused of abusing the reconstruction funds.
Besim Ballabani, Elton Levonja and Mario Mekaj were released under the security measure of "arrest in prison". For Xhemile Uku, 'house arrest' was set, and for Edlira Ramaj, the security measure was 'obligation to appear'
Officials of the Rrogozhin Municipality were handcuffed on September 30, 2024 after being accused of the following crimes: "Misuse of duty", "Forgery and fraud" with the reconstruction funds, causing damage to the state budget worth 353,471,090'.
According to sources from the investigation group, the officials assessed 78 pig and cattle sheds as homes damaged by the earthquake of November 26, 2019. Initially, the prosecution requested the measure of 'prison arrest' for all parties in this trial, but later only for the two ladies, they changed the request for due to circumstances as one of them had children under 1 year old and the other had family circumstances.
