German journalist: If Rama threatens us, then what happens to journalists in

The well-known journalist Michael Martens has spoken about the scandal denounced by his colleague Mathieu von Rohr, who says that Edi Rama, when confronted by "DER SPIEGEL", called the night before and tried to influence their reporting.

Martens was invited to a live link on 'A Show', from where he stated that he considers Prime Minister Rama's action as a lack of control of personal impulses and as something not at all professional.

The Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung journalist also raised the question that if Rama does this to international journalists, then what happens to journalists in Albania?

-A reaction or a direct phone call or not happens in the west, but in this case what makes the story interesting and why is this professional reaction of journalists justified. What is there to be upset or nervous about if the prime minister calls?

I don't know many cases in the West when a head of government personally calls journalists and tells you how to edit their stories, it has never happened to me personally.

I consider it a lack of control of your personal impulses and of course we get angry and we want to call someone and tell them the reasons why we are angry with them but usually we don't because it's not something very professional, especially for a head of government and this shows exactly a lack of impulse control.

- The reaction of Mathieu von Rohr, and the reaction of the people who have felt the influence of power even in small Albania, their reaction is now, but the communication between them and their institutions with the prime minister is early, why do you think that you reacted almost a voice right now, raise your voice about possible dictatorial behavior of Balkan leaders Rama and Vučić. Why this reaction now? What has changed in your perspective on these countries?

I saw what had happened to my colleagues, so I posted on X, it was like a bell so after I have heard this story many times with different variations but the same thing, they write something critical about Rama and then suddenly they get a call from Rama itself, which is really very unusual but also typical because it happened to some colleagues who have already told me, it didn't happen to me because I don't write about Albania, but it happened to many colleagues.

I don't know if we would talk about dictatorial behavior, but I would call it very unprofessional, because for us Westerners this threat does not exist. It is something unusual and a bit funny and shows the behavior of a head of government and what happens to a journalist working in Albania. If you do this with us, then what happens to journalists in Albania?
