The leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has reacted from prison regarding the untimely passing of renowned journalist and analyst, Artur Zheji.
Meta writes that he is saddened by the news of Zheji's passing. He describes him as a committed intellectual and a brilliant professional, who throughout his career defended the values of media freedom and the principles of the rule of law.
The PL leader also recalled Zheji's important role as co-chair of the Committee for the Protection of the Constitution, who made a valuable political and social contribution.
"It was with great sadness that I received the news of the untimely passing of the professional journalist and brilliant analyst, Artur Zheji.
An intellectual committed, especially in defending media independence, the values of freedom and the principles of the rule of law, Zheji also led as co-chair the Committee for the Protection of the Constitution, making an unforgettable political and social contribution that will always be appreciated with respect.
It is very sad when a friend and a professional like him loses his life so unexpectedly and at the peak of his vital and professional maturity.
A great and irreplaceable loss, not only for his family, but also for the community of journalists, with whom I share my most sincere condolences!
