Analyst Preç Zogaj has commented on the SPAK process against former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
Zogaj said that today, with the justice reform, we have reached the era where "no one is above the law" and that Berisha must face justice. Invited to the show "The Unexposed", the analyst added that in a case of acquittal, Berisha would benefit politically.
"It is an expected, warned action. What happened with Berisha, in the escalation of similar events, where several former ministers and SP officials have been investigated, accused and convicted. In this escalation, the case of Sali Berisha represents a climax. It was expected that such a thing would happen.
To tell you the truth, I do not undertake to act as a lawyer, prosecutor or judge, because we are not in these, we are political analysts. I can say that we are in a new history, who will understand it, has had time to understand it.
From "I am the law", which has been the refrain of many political leaders, we have moved to another story, which is "no one is above the law". I like this, it's the beginning of a new story. Those accused must go to court. If someone is unjustly accused and acquitted, he also benefits politically, is reborn politically, if the accusations are unjust.
Political leaders and Sali Berisha, who is a central figure of political life, must set the example of the institution. They have a problem, regarding the measure of the ban, it is a matter of interpretation. The words that make up Article 73 of the Constitution are interpretable. Sali Berisha is removed as if he is the Constitutional Court. It is up to him to set the institutions in motion, to be interpreted. I say that we must refer to the institutions, set an example of respect.
Who has not done anything, with a justice of several degrees, cannot be punished. We are not dealing with a justice who has taken on roles that do not belong to him, to be concerned about. We have had timid justice for a long time, which overlaps the institutions", said Zogaj.
