Dritan Goxhajt's lawyers appeal the decision of September 19 of this year of the Court of First Instance with General Jurisdiction in Tirana.
They appealed against the decision to extradite them to the Republic of Kosovo, in accordance with the order of the Special Court, which accuses them of extracting the data of associates of justice in matters related to the war in Kosovo. The defense of Dritan Goxhaj has based the appeal on 3 points, and specifically considers the issue to be of a political nature.
It is further emphasized that the signature of the Minister of Justice of Kosovo is missing to pave the way for the extradition and recently the extradition to the Netherlands is opposed, considering it as a country with which Albania does not have an agreement.
On September 19, the Tirana court accepted the request for the extradition of the former fighter of the Kosovo Liberation Army, Dritan Goxhaj.
Dritan Goxhaj was arrested on July 31, 2023 with an arrest warrant issued by the Special Court of Kosovo, with the aim of extradition to The Hague. He is accused of revealing the names of witnesses in several cases previously opened by the Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo. Goxhaj is suspected of being charged with the criminal offenses of obstructing the work of officials and intimidation of witnesses under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo
Lawyer Ardian Vishaj, who defends the interests of Goxhaj, said that this is a matter of a political nature, as he outlined the points on which he defended his client.
In the vicinity of the Tirana Court, during the session where the decision on Goxhaj's extradition was given, a protest was held by his supporters.
