The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, declared that the next day a person convicted of 3 murders in 1997 will be repatriated from South Korea.
He gave the news from the floor of the Assembly.
"Tomorrow arrives in Rinas for a person sentenced to life for 3 murders, hiding from justice since 1997 in South Korea. the time of impunity does not end overnight, it does not end even within a minister's term, but this is a process that should leave political debates aside," he said.
Ervin Shahini, arrested in South Korea and wanted by Albania, is the person the minister said.
Around 1998, this citizen committed a serious crime for which the court sentenced him to life imprisonment.
Ervin Shahini, killed a taxi driver to rob him and injured several others in 1995. He was sentenced to life imprisonment for one murder and 4 injuries. He escaped in 1997 and used the name of another Albanian.
The 50-year-old was arrested on January 26 of this year in South Korea. He lived in a neighborhood near the center of Seoul and used an Albanian name and forged documents.
